playing in the water

How much playing in the water did you do as a child? I don't mean at swimming pools or even at the beach I mean just hanging out in your own backyard running through the sprinklers or getting creative with the wading pool.

I remember wading pools although I don't remember doing much with them. When I was older and more influenced by ads on tv I remember being tempted by the ads for Slip-N-Slides. Of course, we never had one but we children weren't without means. We would throw a sheet of plastic out on the lawn, set a sprinkler up next to it and proceed to slide away. Usually somebody would get hurt by a root that poked through the plastic and there would always be a muddy hole in the yard where we played but we did it every year for several years until we outgrew it.
